Match report: Carbury 2-2 Ballisodare United

David Brick scored a 92nd minute equaliser to ensure Carbury’s unbeaten run stretched to 11 games, following a 2-2 draw with Ballisodare United in tricky conditions at MacSharry Park on Saturday evening.

Stephen Fallon had hit two quick fire goals in the second half to bring Ballisodare ahead, until that equaliser from 10-man Carbury.

Ryan McManus had Carbury ahead with an excellent free kick from distance after 20 minutes.

There were few chances to write home about after that, but this game would spring in to life later in the second-half.

Fallon nodded in from Darragh Healy’s ball just before the hour mark to bring the game level, the scoreline reflective of how the game was going.

Two yellow cards in the space of seven minutes saw James Heraghty sent off moments after his introduction, although Carbury felt the decision was somewhat harsh.

With seven minutes to go, Fallon put Ballisodare ahead with an outstanding goal as he got on the end of the Carbury kick out, and danced his way past several defenders before firing into the net.

It looked as though Ballisodare, in second place, were about to pick up a huge three points until the 92nd minute.

Mark Hannon’s free kick was nodded in by David Brick to bring Carbury level.

Ryan McManus came close late on to grabbing a late winner, but was denied by a save followed by a block.

And Darragh Healy almost got all three points for the visitors later, but couldn’t keep the shot down.

The result means Carbury remain five points clear of Ballisodare with a game in hand, and five points clear of 2024/25 champions Cartron United in second place with the same number of games played.
