Carbury let a two-goal lead slip with Cartron Utd coming from 2-0 down as the league’s two unbeaten sides played out a 2-2 draw at McSharry Park on Sunday morning.
In a tense and fiery game at McSharry Park, Carbury were leading 2-0 at half-time after a dominant first half display.
But Cartron, the 2024/2025 league champions were never going to let this game slip away easily, and pulled it back to 2-2 in the second half.
A Kyle Cawley header had Neal McKenna’s side leading after 11 minutes.
Cartron controlled possession after Carbury went ahead, but couldn’t find a way past Adam McLoughlin in goals.
Carbury doubled their lead on 22 minutes when Ryan McManus slotted home a penalty when Steven Armstrong was taken down inside the box.
This is always a tense game between fierce rivals and Cartron knew they had to be at it in the second half.
Six minutes into the half, it was game on as Donal Gallagher nodded in from a cross from the left.
Ryan Lynch then glanced a header over the bar moments later as cartron’s tails were up.
And the equaliser arrived on the hour mark as Gallagher again fired in to the far post after a bursting run down the right after a poorly executed Carbury corner.
In the end, the sides came away with a point each, which ensures that both sides continue their respective unbeaten start to the season.
