Carbury get 25/26 Super League campaign off to a winning start with two wins from two

Carbury made it two wins from two in the Sligo Southern Hotel Super League with a comfortable 5-0 win over Strand Celtic at McSharry Park on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan McManus scored a hat-trick as Neal McKenna’s side made it ten goals scored and 0 conceded from their opening two games.

Carbury got up and running with four minutes on the clock when Daniel Dellwig’s ball into the box was handled, and referee Glenn Gilmartin pointed to the spot.

Ryan McManus converted the penalty to put Carbury ahead.

Ten minutes later Carbury doubled their lead when a brilliant ball from Dellwig was fired in by Ross McLoughlin.

On 19 minutes it was 3-0 to Carbury when McManus got his second after a pass from Zach Gilligan.

Carbury were leading 3-0 at half-time and Strand went close early in the second half, but a brilliant interception from Niall Thomas halted the run of Dean Grealy.

Just before the hour mark, Carbury made it 4-0.

Tristan Guilfoyle found McLoughlin with a short pass, before spraying it wide to Dellwig whose exquisite effort from the left hit the net.

It was 5-0 minutes later as McManus’ overhead kick smashed the net.

Strand grew into the game as time worn on, but it was too late to find a way back and Carbury recorded a comfortable win.
