Carbury are through to the final of the Frank Kennedy Memorial Cup following a 3-1 win over Cartron at McSharry Park on Wednesday night.
Carbury put Cartron under pressure early on, with Gary Farren forcing a save from Ronan Callaghan on seven minute.
Cartron almost went ahead on 13 minutes when Colin Feehily’s corner was headed on by Dónal Gallagher, but somehow Carbury cleared it off the line.
Mark McGoldrick thought he had given Carbury the lead on 19 minutes, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
On 23 minutes, Des Kavanagh’s side took the lead as Colin Feehily’s free-kick was deflected in.
Farren fired wide on 32 minutes as Carbury were again putting Cartron under pressure in search for a goal.
A good save from Ronan Callaghan on 38 minutes kept out Ray Walsh’s shot from close range after a cross from Farren.
Donagh Crowne went close on 42 minutes to equalising for Carbury when he couldn’t gather his feet to get a proper shot off, but that equaliser did arrive just before half-time.
Farren’s cross from the left was headed in expertly by Kyle Cawley on the brink of half time.
Cawley came close again shortly after the restart as he nodded on from David Brick’s cross but Ronan Callaghan was well placed to make the save.
It felt like it was coming, and Carbury did go ahead before we hit the hour mark.
Ross McLoughlin’s superb ball from deep inside his own half picked out the run of Crowne, who kept his composure to tuck his shot past Callaghan on 57 minutes.
On 80 minutes, Carbury confirmed their spot in the final.
Crowne was upended inside the box by Callaghan, with captain Mark Hannon beating the Cartron netminder to see Carbury through to the final.
